Being more creative sometimes starts with something as simple as a new app on your phone.
We live in an age where everything we need is right at our fingertips, and we probably don’t take enough advantage of this. If it’s creativity we are after, but we don’t know where to start, there is guaranteed to be an app out there that will help us get on the exact path we are looking for.
If this sounds like something you need, here are some suggestions to help you channel your creativity through the app world.
TikTok
You might think that TikTok is simply an app for teenagers who know lots of “trendy” dances, but it is, in reality, a hub of creativity, production and artistic expression.
TikTok is an ever-growing platform with millions of users “liking” videos posted every day. It is a place that hosts creators in nearly every different genre, from cooking to fashion, from digital art to dance. And these creators are increasingly making their careers and livelihoods all from within the app. There are many TikTok creators whose entire salaries come from posting content on the platform.
If you are someone who is creative or who has some form of creative skill or talent, joining TikTok and posting content there could be one of the best things that you do this year and next.
It can help you grow your audience, develop your skills, and fine-tune your craft.
It might seem like a flurry of silly 15-second videos, but it is nothing of the sort.
Etsy
We live in the age of the side hustle, and Etsy is the home of the side hustle.
If you are someone with any sort of creative skills, interests, or talents, there is absolutely a home for you and your niche on Etsy. There are millions of sellers across the world making money and taking joy from the platform.
And it isn’t just about making money either, really.
If you have something you do that is creative, being amongst other sellers of the same talent will help to encourage and inspire you. You will never run dry of inspiration if you are in a motivating environment that is both competitive and supportive all at once.
It’s always good to see what is out there on the market before we get involved.
Canva
If you are creative in a way that doesn’t necessarily include artistic talents, Canva could be your new friend.
Being creative and making a career (or at least a side hustle) out of it online, will involve some level of self-promotion and marketing. If you want an easy and free way to do this, you can use Canva to create all sorts of artistic and creative materials, including cover photos, banners, cards, website logos, etc. You don’t need to be able to use Procreate to make your new blog look great.
If you need anything in your creative sidepiece, you can find it online.
That’s something I know for sure.
