The criminals were quickly arrested, and Carl, who had been hiding in his neighbor’s empty house with her, watched as they were taken into custody. For the first time, he saw the faces of the people who had caused so much chaos in his life and in that of his neighbor. The first few crooks who were led outside were unknown to him. But then Carl saw a handcuffed man he recognized.
