Her chest tightened with anticipation, a feeling she hadn’t experienced in a long while. She got out of her car, crossing the busy street with the newspaper tucked under her arm, and entered the building. The elevator ride to the eighth floor was agonizingly slow, each ding marking her ascension echoing in her pounding ears. The nerves were creeping in, and she was tempted to turn back.
