The wildlife protector had been involved in numerous cases involving displaced or lost animals. He suggested that the muscular pups were probably wild dogs, separated from their own mother somehow and adopted by the domesticated dog in the park. It was uncommon but not unheard of. Animals, he said, had their own survival instincts, and sometimes that meant forming unlikely new families.
