Night falling
As night fell, the house was bathed in an ethereal glow from the moonlight filtering through the windows. Maria lay in her bed comfortably. But the first night in a new home is always an adjustment, and Maria found herself lying awake, listening to the unfamiliar sounds that old houses often make. The creaks and groans of the floorboards, the wind rustling through the trees outside.
