Despite his inner turmoil, Douglas stood his ground, meeting the lion’s steady gaze with his own. The lion, seemingly undeterred by his presence, continued to approach. Its measured steps, confident and unhurried, sent a shiver down Douglas’ spine. He was in the lion’s territory now, and the beast was reminding him of that fact. There was no running, no escaping from this.
