One day, Emily received an email from Cassie asking if she could do a photoshoot of her and her quadruplets. Emily usually did single-person portraits, mostly taken at her indoor studio, but Cassie really wanted to take the pictures outside. It was a fun challenge for Emily and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to photograph quadruplets. Cassie was lovely and would have difficulty declining her, so she agreed. Not knowing the importance of this decision.

  • How to be happy is one of life’s age-old questions and conundrums. We all want to be happier, but we very very rarely know how to do it. Happiness is a huge thing and everybody needs to do a lot of their own deep personal work before they can achieve long-lasting happiness. And even then, happiness will always come in peaks and troughs rather than being a permanent fixture. And that is ok.
  • As with the rest of the last two years, things surrounding Covid, Covid restrictions, and office vs. home working remain very unclear right now. Things are ever-changing and we never know what the next week or month is going to hold. As it stands, it seems that at least some of us will be headed back to the office in the New Year, at least for part of our working weeks. How do we handle that?
  • When we think of productivity we might think of a calm person in a calm, efficient environment that is picture-perfect. We probably think of the scenes we see on social media and YouTube videos that promote productivity and productive lifestyles and habits. However, we know that life is not always picture-perfect and that productivity doesn’t always come tied up neatly in a bow. We don’t always have a calm, peaceful environment in which to be productive. Many of us live and/or work in environments that have lots of external noise, distractions and limitations. It could be colleagues, neighbours, children, partners, pets, the general public, or anyone at all that causes this noise and distraction. It doesn’t matter who it is, it just matters that it affects our work and our concentration levels.
  • It is important that we know what things help us with our work output and our daily tasks, however, it is equally important that we know the things that don’t help us in these ways. If we know what is holding us back and keeping us from reaching our full potential, then we can actively avoid these things and choose to cut them out of our lives. It is only when we ditch our unhealthy habits and routines that we can begin to work in a way that is truly effective, and that is where we will see success in our work lives.
  • If you have a skill, talent, or hobby that you want to take from an amateur level to a professional level, what an amazing time to do so. This is the age of the freelancer and the creator. The self-employed and the independent. Now couldn’t be a better time to work for yourself and to enjoy doing it. It is a profitable and enjoyable way to work and there are more resources out there than ever before to help you on your way.
  • Many of us started side projects during COVID and its range of lockdowns. We had more free time than ever and many of us filled that free time with something creative and artistic. How lovely. A great way to change the narrative from something globally scarring to something in which we were able to find some form of silver living. Now, many of us are tapering out with the time and motivation for these creative projects and that is a real shame.
  • After two years of being in and out of the office, Zoom meetings and virtual Christmas parties, it’s not surprising that many of us are feeling disconnected from our co-workers. Some of us might even feel quite left out right now, seeing everyone else going ahead and having fun plans with co-workers and posting fun pictures on Instagram. Never fear, there are lots of things we can do to help connect with our co-workers again and help ourselves get a little more popular around the water cooler. Let’s face it, it’s always easier to go to work when we feel that we have friends there and think that people like us. It isn’t the be all and end all, but we would be naive if we said we all didn’t want a little popularity at work.
  • Finding the perfect partner might be one of the most tricky challenges of our lives. We might have a lot of near “hit and misses” before we get to the finish line and this can sometimes feel disheartening. The journey of searching for the right partner can be tiring and we can very easily begin to lose hope. But often that is a good thing.
